The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) and Lakeside Produce are working together to limit the spread of COVID-19 after 13 cases of the virus were detected in its workers at the Leamington facility.
Lakeside Produce is a local producer of fresh produce with a large workforce of year-round and temporary foreign workers.
The first case was confirmed in a worker April 1st and the health unit and Lakeside Produce issued a joint statement on Tuesday regarding the situation.
10 of the 13 cases have been resolved and all were close contacts of each other.
According to the release, the cases were sporadic in nature and not linked to any travel, but acquired through the community.
