Council voted unanimously in favour of waving fees for the 425,000 home

The Brentwood Lottery got a boost in the form of a tax-break for its 2020 Dream Home.

Lakeshore Town Council voted unanimously in favour of waving fees for the $425,000 home to be built at 152 Summer St. (Tuesday night.)

Organizers were asking for whatever Lakeshore could give, but the town took it one step further and waived all $14,000 in development fees.

Jeff Sylvestre of Lakepoint Homes is the contractor donating his services for the recovery centre's annual lottery.

"A hundred people for a day or one person for 100 days, to carry them through a program, it's pretty awesome what they've done for us," he says. "It shows that they're a community minded group and they really want the community to be healthy and helpful."

Administration will have to amend some by-laws to allow the tax-break, but council decided to say yes and worry about the details later.

The annual lottery funds Brentwood programs to help people kick addictions and stay sober.

A 3,000 sq.ft. renovation to create a youth program is a focus of this year's fundraising effort.
