More storage space is needed at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore.
Mayor Tom Bain says council is being asked to spend up to $45,000 for a newly built storage room at the facility.
He says the town has a temporary spot at the complex but it is not in compliance with fire and building codes.
"What we're looking at is first meeting the fire regulations and meeting a need that we have of there is definitely shortage of storage for our hockey teams and baseball teams," says Bain. "They need to store their equipment, have it handy there."
Bain says funds have not been allocated for the work but believes it will come out of the town's recreational budget.
"It will be a matter of shifting some funds around but I believe there's enough in there that it's going to cover it," says Bain.
Council will debate the issue Tuesday night at the town's regular council meeting.
Sections of the facility first opened in 2014. The remainder of the complex opened in 2016.
