A member of Lakeshore town council is stepping away from municipal politics.
Dave Monk has announced he will not be running in this fall's municipal election.
Monk has represented Ward 3 for the last eight years.
As he prepares to leave office, Monk is touting his record on progress and fulfilling one of his election promises which was a community pool for Lakeshore. "I feel I was a big part of that," says Monk. "I was a driving force. It is what I campaigned on in 2010. In 2014, I ran to finish the job because the pool wasn't finished yet but the arenas were, along with a lot of road work and a lot of parks."
Monk also believes he was a driving force in making Lakeshore a perfect community to live in. "I've really help build the town. I really feel like I was apart of it, apart of the five councillors out of eight that vote on everything. I was one of those councillors that really pushed for progress" says Monk.
He plans to spend more time with his family and will continue his volunteer duties with the Knights of Columbus District 23 in Lakeshore.
