Downtown Lakeshore roads will be shut down May 28th for one of the biggest charity motorcycle tours of the summer.
The annual Ride for Dad Motorcycle Ride will be making a pit stop in the town centre, and council unanimously approved an extended patio at one of it's most popular watering holes.
Councilor Al Fazio bowed out of the vote -- he's the owner of Mr. Biggs Sportsbar on Notre Dame St. in downtown Belle River.
Fazio says with the hundreds of riders passing through, the extra space is going to be needed.
"Between 800 and a 1,000 motorcycles are going to be visiting the area so obviously we need the road and we need the participation from the town to accommodate them," he says.
Belle River will be the second stop on the tour that begins and ends in Windsor.
It will be part charity ride, and part traveling show, according to Fazio.
"It's like a motorcycle show, that's what it basically is. For two or three hours, then they get up and go to their final destination," says Fazio.
He told AM800 News the town is ready to get things going -- it's a good cause that will draw a crowd to the town's core.
"It's May 28th, we'd like to see everybody out. If you like motorcycles that's the time to come. You'll see them all in the middle of the street on Notre Dame between seventh and ninth street."
Ride for Dad has been raising money for prostate cancer research for the past 16 years.
Council also approved an extended patio for Mr. Biggs during their Sunsplash weekend on July 14th and 15th.
