The Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore is getting a new ice resurfacing machine.
Town council has agreed to spend roughly $100,000 for an Olympia machine.
Manager of Recreation and Leisure Terry Fink says the new Olympia will replace an aging Zamboni, which is in need of repairs.
"It's done it's life cycle and it needs to be replaced," says Fink. "There's only two ice surfacing companies in Ontario, in Canada and they are Zamboni and Olympia. So we consulted with both those companies and in this case we have selected the Olympia model to go forward with.
He says the Olympia is fuel efficient and the design has changed where it's no longer big and bulky.
"They both have their features but we're a little bit more comfortable with the Olympia right now," he says. "We also have two Olympias at the ATC and it's certainly to some of our advantage to have the same machine for all three rinks."
The new machine is expected to arrive next year.
He says there will now be three Olympia machines at the Atlas Tube Centre.
