Funding has been approved for a Backwater Valve Subsidy Program in Lakeshore.
The town is setting aside $76, 500 for the 102 homeowners who applied for the program.
The program provides funding to the homeowner to install a backwater valve within the home to a maximum of $750.
Town council also approved a motion to continue the program in future years.
"This first round of the backwater valve subsidy program is really meant to address the flooding from September of last year and the number of residents that experienced some horrific losses and ultimately some failures of their sanitary systems," says Councillor Steven Wilder.
"Similar to other neighbouring municipalities, they have an on-going program so we want to make sure that the budget dollars are built in that they are put in for next year and years beyond."
He says the homeowners who have applied will be contacted by the town on how to proceed with the program.
