Lakeshore town council has approved spending $140,000 on a new pathway.
It will be located to the west of the Atlas Tube Centre and will connect to Puce Rd.
Deputy Mayor Al Fazio says the new pathway will connect to an existing pathway near the Atlas Tube Centre. "Walking is the number one activity in Lakeshore. Wherever you go you see them walking, whether it's on the waterfront, at the ATC, inside the ATC. It's a welcome amenity."
"Construction for a granular base will begin this year but the project will then head to the 2018 budget process for an asphalt finish," says Fazio. "We're laying the gravel down for this year, compacted by next year. Originally, the path that we have now that's going to Puce Rd. has been down a year already and it was supposed to be a hard top. This year we're delaying that so next year its all done at the same time."
Paving the path will be at an additional cost according to Fazio.
