Changes are on the way for Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.
Town council has voted to allow the construction of a practice diamond outside the left field fence — funded by the Tecumseh Baseball Club and St. Clair College.
Council has also agreed to include an additional $30,000 in upgrades in its 2019 budget proposal at the town's expense.
They include artificial turf around the batting cage, warm-up pitching areas behind home plate and on-deck circles, and replacing the stone base under the bleachers with a cement pad.
Club President Jaimie Kell tells AM800 News the park's occupancy rate hit 140% over the past two years and the practice field will help free up some much needed diamond time.
