The Windsor and District Labour Council is taking up the torch for postal workers who are unable to take any action after being legislated back to work.
An information picket has been set up on Thursday at the Tecumseh Post Office with Unifor, International Workers of the World and Labour council members.
Michelle Johnson is a retired postal worker and Financial Secretary of the labour council and says this is about showing solidarity for the right to collective bargaining.
"Workers rights are all workers rights, we relate," she says. "Once you start with illegally or unconstitutionally ordering people back to work who have a legal right to strike, that affects everyone. It's like a trickle down, they talk about trickle down with wealth that doesn't happen but this is like trickle down of basic workers' rights."
She says Canada Post appears to have stopped shipping to the location because of their protest as they are allowing mail and retail customers to go into the building, but mail is not leaving.
"I know the people in Tecumseh are aware of the situation and the problems we've had with the Tecumseh Post Office in the last couple of years," she says. "You know it highlights one of the major issues, health and safety and delivering mail in the night. Tecumseh is kind of you know not our star, but it is our sore spot in the city."
The picket began shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday and is expected to be there all day until about 5 p.m.
Back-to-work legislation passed earlier this week preventing rotating strike which began in October.
