Kingsville's new councillor is settling in.
John Driedger had his first meeting Monday night after coming on board to fill Sandra McIntyre's vacant seat.
Driedger says he's looking forward to hitting the ground running. "When the election was finished, I put my signs away and I'm thinking, alright, that was a good ride. So that was three years ago. So now it's kind of a rude awakening. I've got to get my mind back in gear."
Driedger says he's hoping to officially run for the seat in 2018. "They're all very, very capable people on council. If I can keep up with them I'm definitely going to be interested. I'm just glad to be on board and, actually, the person who resigned gave me a call, gave me her blessing and I'm all set to go."
Driedger was appointed to council as he was the runner up in the 2014 election.
McIntyre resigned August 14th due to personal reasons.
Had council decided to hold a by-election to replace McIntyre, it would have cost the town $55,000.
