The second annual Pumpkin Parade is ready to takeover Kingsville's waterfront.
Kingsville's Communities in Bloom Committee is holding the event complete with food and drinks at Lakeside Park Friday evening.
Manager of Programs, Maggie Durocher says, like last year, it's a rain or shine event.
"It poured rain for the entire day, however, we had over 350 pumpkins and there were people out with their umbrellas, their kids and wagons and it was wonderful," she says. "We're hoping for a little bit of a break in this abysmal weather."
The town will provide each pumpkin with a battery operated candle and create a sea of jack-o-lanterns for families to enjoy.
Durocher calls some of the entries 'works of art.'
"I have pictures from last year and some of them are actual works of art, absolutely beautiful. We had people bring pumpkins that were so large they had to bring them in on a wagon," she says. "Just the diversity and the true artistry of some of these pumpkins are awesome."
Durocher says the best part is the town won't be wasting any pumpkins.
"After it's over, all these pumpkins are going to be recycled because we're taking them all to Cottam to a local farmer to turn them into food for pig farms," she says. "It's not like they're going to end up smashed and on the street or in the garbage dumps."
Anyone who wants to enter a pumpkin in the parade is asked to bring their submission between 2pm and 5pm.
The pumpkins will be on display from 6pm to 9pm.
Vendors will be located under the pavilion for the duration of the event.
