A Kingsville man has pleaded guilty in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 3 that claimed the life of a Leamington great grandmother.
31-year-old Decio Marques pleaded guilty in provincial offences court Tuesday to careless driving.
He was given 12 months probation and a fine of $1250.
On April 27, 2016, Marques was driving a GMC pick-up truck hauling a utility trailer when he struck the rear of another vehicle on Highway 3, east of Essex County Rd. 23 in Essex.
It set off a chain reaction crash resulting in two vehicles being struck head-on in the oncoming lanes.
Diana Pepper, 67, of Leamington was a rear passenger in one of the vehicles and died of her injuries.
Six people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
