Staff at Brians Custom Sports are stitching medical gowns instead of goalie pads during the COVID19 pandemic

A Kingsville company, better known for helping NHL goaltenders stop pucks, is helping stop the spread of COVID-19.

Brian's Custom Sports has been making goalie equipment since 1984, but the current pandemic has made sports equipment non-essential.

Now its skilled workforce will be stitching medical gowns instead of goalie pads.

Production Manager Aaron Hickmott says 14 workers were called into service to make 18,000 medical gowns for Essex-Windsor EMS.

"It feels good, I think, for our entire staff. I'm proud of them for stepping up," he says. "When I contacted them there was very little hesitation from any of them to step back up and help."
