The 16th Annual Kidney Walk in Windsor-Essex is bringing in just over $54,000.
The event supporting the Kidney Foundation of Canada raised the money though its event held in Leamington on Sunday.
Darbara Hebert was the Kidney Walk Ambassador for the event.
The dialysis patient shared her story of treatment over the last seven years. She calls the treatment a life saver.
"That has helped give back my life," says Hebert. "I can get up every day, do what I want to do, enjoy my family, my grandchildren."

Hebert says her kidney issues caught her by surprise.
"I had no idea that I would have kidney disease. I first had brain surgery and that somehow triggered a kidney problem," says Hebert.
About 130 people attended the event at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex.
Hebert feels it's important to continue to share stories of those living with kidney disease.
"Being here today means a lot to me because there are so many people out there struggling with kidney disease You know a lot of people say, 'Well you're sick' and I say, 'No I'm not sick,'" says Hebert. "I have a disease that I have to manage, but I'm not sick — I can get up every day."
Hebert wanted to give back to those who have helped her.
"It has given me an opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people — people that work to make my life better."
The Kidney Foundation of Canada reports its contributions to kidney-related research at $115-million over its lifetime.
