Raul Huezo, 26, was convicted in October 2025 to conspiracy to commit an assault in the death of Darrion Moffatt.

The 18-year-old was beaten and shot to death at a home on Hall Avenue on Sept. 8, 2018.

Huezo admitted in court last fall he stood “guard” outside the home to prevent anyone from entering because “a kid inside named Darrion” was being “beat up for stealing”, according to his Agreed Statement of Fact.

Huezo had been charged with first-degree murder in Moffat’s death at the time of his arrest in 2018.

Alleged bail violations

Huezo was granted bail in 2020 but was rearrested by Windsor Police in July 2022 for an alleged breach of his bail conditions.

He was re-released that September but was apprehended again in May 2024 for a new allegation of violating his bail conditions.

On Oct. 8, 2025, Huezo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an assault and was sentenced to time already served in custody, plus one day, in relation to Moffatt’s death.

At the time of his plea, the allegations of breach of bail conditions were withdrawn by the prosecutor.

New charges

CTV News has now learned Huezo was charged on April 24, 2026, with kidnapping, possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, stealing a vehicle and stealing while armed with a weapon.

Public court documents indicate they are in connection to a violent robbery and kidnapping at a home on Lauzon Road, south of Tecumseh Road, on April 16th.

Police said in a news release at the time, a man was beaten and held against his will by “three masked suspects”.

Police said the suspects attempted to force the victim into a vehicle, but he escaped, went to a neighbour’s home and called police.

The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the news release.

To date, police have only identified one potential suspect; Alexis-Regine Gibbs Rogers who was apprehended at a hotel near London, Ont. on April 20.

CTV News asked Windsor Police Thursday for an update on the investigation.

Bail granted

A bail hearing was held Thursday for Huezo in the Ontario Court of Justice.

The media is not allowed to report evidence or details heard during bail hearings.

We are permitted to report that Huezo was granted bail on the new charges, and he will return to court in June.
