Edmonton Oilers winger and former Windsor Spitfire Zack Kassian has been suspended for two games by the NHL.
The suspension follows an incident where he roughed up a turtling Matthew Tkachuk on national TV.
Kassian skated with the Oilers at Rogers Place earlier Monday but he did not speak to media afterwards ahead of his meeting with league's Player Safety Department.
In a statement, the league says Kassian was suspended without pay and will forfeit $20,967.74 USD under terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Kassian went after Tkachuk late in the second period Saturday night at the Saddledome after Tkachuk left his wing and hit Kassian into the boards, sending Kassian's helmet flying.
Kassian responded by grabbing Tkachuk by the scruff of his sweater, hauling him down, and landing multiple punches until the linesman intervened.
During the game, Kassian was given a double minor for roughing. It was a costly penalty.
The Flames scored on the power play, won 4-3, and took over top spot in the Pacific Division.
