Former Windsor Spitfire and current Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian is taking in the 2017 Memorial Cup.
Kassian was at the WFCU Centre Sunday night to watch the game between the Spits and Seattle Thunderbirds. He says being at the rink and seeing all the festivities brings back memories to when he played in Windsor.
"It's pretty cool, it's pretty special me and my brother were kind of reminiscing about the days when I was with the Spitfires, time flies by but the city of Windsor is doing a great job of putting it on and it's always nice to be back in Windsor," says Kassian.

The former Spit still thinks about the team he won the Memorial Cup with.
"It makes you kind of realize how special the team we had with guys like Ryan Ellis and Cam Fowler, Taylor Hall and Adam Henrique all having successful NHL careers," says Kassian. "It's something special and will probably go down as one of the better teams in junior hockey."
Kassian says he'll never forget playing in the Memorial Cup.
"It's an experience of a life time," says Kassian. "I think junior hockey is one thing, but get to play on that stage, at that age — you don't play hockey for scouts, but there [are] a lot of scouts there, it makes you closer to your dream of getting into the NHL and to compete on the world stage against the best players just gives yourself the best opportunity to do so."
The LaSalle native won a Memorial Cup with the Spits in 2010 in Brandon, Manitoba.
