The 2019 OHL Cup hosted by the GTHL begins Tuesday and will feature 20 teams from across Ontario and the United States showcasing many of the top players eligible for the 2019 OHL Priority Selection.
All games will be played at Scotiabank Pond in Toronto until the Championship Final moves to the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Monday March 18 where it will be broadcast nationally.
The Windsor Jr Spitfires will take part in this prestigious event as they have two games scheduled for Wednesday.
They play Detroit Little Caesars at 9 a.m. and battle the Don Mills Flyers at 9:15 p.m.
The head coach of the Jr. Spitfires, Matt Zuccato tells AM800 Sports they look forward to playing the number one ranked Don Mills Flyers.
"That's the opportunity we want and with success breeds opportunity and that's what we preach with our guys, and what an opportunity to play a team like that ranked number one in North America."
Zuccato says this tournament is what they've been building for all season.
"We set this goal at the beginning of the year and to be able to achieve that against a real good Waterloo team was real good for us. They knocked us out of the ALLIANCE finals last year so it was sweet revenge to knock them out to get to the OHL Cup."
The Ontario Hockey League announced the final edition of the weekly minor midget rankings for the 2019 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament, and Windsor earned an honourable mention.
