It's 21 years and going strong.
The Joe Hogan Memorial Golf Tournament is set for September 13th at Roseland, Ambassador and Sutton Creek Golf Clubs.
The event started off with just 92 golfers and today, more than 400 golfers are expected to register.
Co-organizer Dan Hogan says the tournament has grown leaps and bounds. "I still remember the hot summer day or hot autumn day that we were at Sutton Creek with 92 golfers our first one and the trial and tribulations that my brother and I faced and it is actually really cool to see the progression," he says.
Dan and Doug Hogan organized the event in memory of their father who died of cancer and all the proceeds go to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation and Windsor Spitfires Foundation.
"Two staples in our community, the cancer was back why we did it was we had to go to London for my dad to get treatment and there is nothing worse than your superhero sick beside you," says Hogan.
Over the years, the tournament has raised over half a million dollars to local charities. Hogan says it's about having some fun for a good cause. "The winning day that day is the charities and just the golfers to have a good day and one of the reasons why we do so well is that we pay attention to golfers," he says.
