Statistics Canada’s labour force survey released Friday morning said the national unemployment rate fell for the third straight month, which is down half a percentage point since April.

Most of the job gains in July were split between full- and part-time work, as wholesale and retail trade alone added 21,000 new jobs—though the sector is down 50,000 jobs from a year ago.
Ontario added the most jobs of any province in July, mostly in the professional, scientific, and technical services sector.
A Reuters poll of economists predicted Canada would add 15,000 jobs last month.
Statistics Canada said the country is up 181,000 jobs since April, and 196,000 from a year ago.
