Organizers of the popular boat party known as Jobbie Nooner will hold their event as planned later this month, if permitted.
The 46th annual event around Gull Island will begin early on June 26, but the final decision on the party will be made by authorities including the U.S. Coast Guard along with the Macomb County and St. Clair County Sheriff's Departments.
Organizers say they are asking anyone participating to cooperate with authorities and stay on their boats this year, at least six feet away from other boats due to COVID-19.
Normally, party goers would tie boats together off the shore of the island while enjoying beverages and music.
The "Jobbie Crew" has asked everyone attending to "be an adult" and have fun.
The party near Gull Island, not far from the mouth of the St.Clair River near Walpole Island, attracts thousands of boats filled with party-goers.
The event was started by a bunch of auto workers who called themselves "Jobbies" and they would take the last Friday off before the July 4 weekend to party on Lake St.Clair.
