The Oakland Athletics had no answer for former teammate Cesar Valdez. The Toronto starter went six solid innings, allowing one run on five hits as the Blue Jays topped Oakland 4-1 at Rogers Centre.
It was Valdez's first start for Toronto and his first major league win in more than seven years.
The Jays have won the first two of the four-game series.
Sonny Gray took the loss, giving up four runs, none earned, in six innings. This could be Gray's last start for Oakland as he finds himself the subject of trade rumors.
