The first grants tied to a new charity fund are set to be awarded this fall.
The Inspiration 100 initiative part of the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation is set to dish out $20,000.
The $5,000 grants will be handed out to four charities at the Foundation's annual general meeting on September 13.
Chair Marty Solcz says the initiative started two-and-a-half years ago attracting investors to create a fund that would help support local charities.
Solcz says that's grown to $583,000 and the proceeds are finally turning into grants local charities can use.
"As we grow the fund to $2-million or $3-million, you can imagine the impact we're going to have as a group when that fund is finally complete."
Solcz believes Inspiration 100 is the answer to the question of how charities can be financially supported for the long haul.
He says the organization is helping to bring the area's philanthropic community together to support local causes that matter to them.
"This is just another way of allowing people to give money in perpetuity and have that money work and only the proceeds going out to charity, so it lasts forever."
Inspiration 100 currently has 70 members.
