Windsor police confirm to CTV News an investigation is underway into a death of an inmate at the South West Detention Centre overnight.
Police don’t have any further details.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General also confirmed that an inmate from the Southwest Detention Centre passed away on June 16.
“As there are investigations underway related to the death, we are unable to provide additional information,” said a statement to CTV News.
The Ministry cannot provide details regarding confidential human resource matters.
The ministry said when an inmate passes away while in custody there are multiple investigations that occur, including by the coroner’s office and police.
