Duel in Detroit Grand Prix Race goes the weekend of June 1

With just over a month to go before practice starts at Belle Isle, drivers are already thinking ahead to the Duel in Detroit.

The Detroit Grand Prix is among the most challenging on the Indy Car circuit because it has two races back-to-back.

Spencer Pigot of Ed Carpenter Racing is looking for his first win this season.

He says the team is still looking to lock down their performance.

"We've been quick, we've qualified pretty well at some tracks we just haven't had a smooth race.  We've had incidents in pit lane and incidents on starts.  So it's been kind of a little messy so far but hopefully we can kind of turn it around in Indianapolis coming up and keep it going in Detroit"

Pigot says drivers are still adapting to the new aerodynamics on the cars.

He says the road course on Belle Isle is not an easy one to navigate.

"Detroit's very difficult. It's very bumpy so a car that's very compliant over the bumps is important.  But also there's fast corners there's slow corners there's a little bit of everything.  So it's a very unique street course I think it's definitely one of the hardest physically of the season and you have to do it two days in a row"

Pigot is hoping to do better than in 2018, when he placed second at the Iowa Grand Prix event.

He was in Windsor as part of the announcement of the Canadian ticket package for the Detroit Grand Prix.
