Shoppers in Windsor-Essex might notice increased security at LCBO's.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario announced its beefing up security after a string of thefts in Toronto where two people were arrested for allegedly stealing close to $92,000 of product in 40 separate-thefts from the LCBO over the past three months.
Security guards will increase in number or be added to select stores across the province to ensure safety and security of staff and customers, according to a statement released Saturday.
Employees will also be receiving additional training on how to handle thefts and be a credible witness to crimes in addition to adding new anti-theft technology.
The LCBO announced increased spending on closed-circuit TV technology and other in-store deterrents last month.
