A three-month long construction project on Huron Church Road is nearing an end.
Traffic had been down to a single lane in each direction since April during the work which included infrastructure upgrades to water mains, street lighting and traffic signals as well as repaving between Malden Rd. and Dorchester Rd.
The $5.5-million project will be completed by this Saturday, July 6th with traffic in two lanes both northbound and southbound.
"It will be a better traffic flow because we have one extra through lane open each way, north and south," says Manager of Contracts, Field Services and Maintenance Phong Nguy. "Because we have so much trucks on this road, the road is taking a lot of beating on it, so we are improving the road itself."
He points out the project was on budget and on time.
Because of all the rain this spring, some of the final touches on the cross street intersections will take a bit longer and side street access on the west side of Huron Church will remain closed until about July 12th.
