The Parliamentary Assistant to the Ministry of Energy says hydro costs are not the only reason greenhouse growers are moving to the U.S.
Mississauga area MPP Bob Delaney met with local growers today who said the humidity levels are also to blame.
Delaney is touring southwestern Ontario to discuss Ontario's Fair Hydro plan which will see an average 25% reduction in hydro bills.
He says there are some benefits for working on this side of the border.
"The tax regime is different and Ontario has an advantage in having lower taxes," says Delaney.
"We have already factored system upgrades that throughout the states they haven't begun to address."
The reductions will go into effect this summer.
In 2016, Enwin worked with more than 2075 customers to make payment arrangements designed to help them cope with costs.
