Former Michigan Wolverine star Juwan Howard is heading back to his alma mater to coach.
The Wolverines have named Howard the 17th men's basketball coach in school history. Multiple reports indicate the the two sides reached a five-year deal.
Howard replaces John Beilein, who left last week to take over the Cleveland Cavaliers after 12 seasons in Ann Arbor.
Howard has been serving as an assistant coach of the Miami Heat since 2013.
The 46-year-old played three seasons with the Wolverines, helping them advance to a pair of national championship games before a 19-year NBA career.
