Both Essex and Kingsville Fire Departments responded to a fire at the 1500 block of Heritage Drive in Kingsville earlier today.
The fire was a result of clothes being left in a dryer unattended.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
The family was home at the time and were all able to make it out safely thanks to functioning fire detectors.
Captain of Kingsville South Fire Station Tim Sunderland says with the help of the Essex Fire department, the blaze was quickly under control, avoiding a potentially larger fire.
"Upon arrival we had a fire out the front window of the home," says Sunderland. "Fire crews arrived, did a complete knockdown, an excellent knockdown. The homeowners were actually home at the time of the dryer fire. They had functioning smoke alarms and everybody escaped."
Firefighters estimate the fire caused around $100,000 in damages to the home.
