The usual summer heat in Windsor-Essex may take a little longer than usual to arrive this year
Accuweather is out with its annual summer forecast and it's calling for a cooler-than-usual May and typical June.
Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson says July is when things really start to heat up. "June right now does not look overly hot at this point in time. I think the heat is going to build out across Alberta and stay out there for the most part in June, so I think June looks fairly typical. I think July is the month where we could end up several degrees above normal.'
The summer could be a wet one as well. Anderson says the path of the jetstream could being us more thunderstorms than usual. He sees it winding up through Alaska, around the prairies and dipping down into Ontario. Says Anderson, "what that does is that allows more fronts than usual come down from the north and west and usually most of those fronts don't have a lot of rain because it's not a low of moisture. However, when they do come down I think we'll see some opportunities for showers and thunderstorms."
Anderson says it's expected to be a pleasant summer on the west coast, hot in the prairies and unsettled in Atlantic Canada.
