One of the longest serving volunteers at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor is calling it a career.
A self described "people person," 94-year-old Jean McPhail is retiring after putting in more than 10,000 volunteer hours.
McPhail says she has really enjoyed her time at the hospital and believes she's been able to give people someone to share with. "People come in and tell you things they maybe wouldn't tell somebody else. They can relate to me because I'm not involved with them, so that way I have cried with them, I've laughed with them. That's what I enjoy."
McPhail is also encouraging others to do what she has. "I think all volunteers make a difference, they all do. We need them badly. A lot of people say they don't know what to do with themselves. Volunteer."
