The C-E-O of Windsor Hospital Regional Hospital wants the community to be thankful for Canada's healthcare system.
David Musyj says "no healthcare system is perfect, but Canada has one of the best in the world."
"Although Canadians often experience longer wait times than patients in the U.S., they rarely see a medical bill," says Musyj. "They are doing their best, physicians and front line staff in trying to reduce wait times as best as possible with those types of issues. But when it comes to the underlining system and you need the care and you need it urgently, it is available for us here and you do not get a bill."
Musyj feels Canadians often forget how good they have it. "We have issues in Canada with respect to longer wait times with non-emergency procedures. With emergency procedures we do not have the wait time, it is immediate, it happens. What we have here in Canada is 100 per cent accessibility. That is what they do not have in the United States."
Musyj adds that health care workers have no control over government funding and do their best to work with what they have.
