A decision by Windsor city council this week to eliminate retail space from the Pelissier St. Parking Garage is being called 'unfair' by the Chair of the Downtown Business Improvement Association.
The city plans to turn the space into parking spots and has given the current tenants six months to move out.
It's being called a "big mistake" by BIA Chair Larry Horwitz who says "it's important to have a pedestrian-friendly downtown. It has shops all over the place that people want to go to, not parking lots. Again, it's the opposite of what we want to do as a progressive downtown that is trying to get businesses to locate downtown."
Horwitz also doesn't think six months notice for the current tenants is long enough.
