Betting was up 35 percent compared to last race season.

Above expectations.

That's how Lakeshore Horse Racing Association member Tom Bain is describing this year's horse racing season.

He says the final race was held on Sunday at the Leamington Race Track.

The track was home to horse races for the last 13 weeks.

Bain says it was a successful race season.

"We had increase numbers in attendance with the crowd and our betting was up approximately 35 percent where we averaged close to $28,000 a Sunday so we had a tremendous season of racing," says Bain.

Bain says there will be 13 race dates again next season.
