Students were slowly released around 4:30pm on Wednesday, from two Greater Essex County District School Board schools after a hold and secure.
The 'hold and secure' was put in place after this morning's stabbing on Ottawa St.
Students at Giles Campus and Prince Edward are now being released to parents or guardians or are being permitted to walk home "with a buddy."
From the Catholic board, St Anne French Immersion and St Angela were under 'hold and secure" throughout the day, but the measure was lifted and kids were released at normal dismissal time after parents and guardians had been advised of the situation.
Around 11:00 this morning, an 83-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times in the "facial area" after being approached by an unknown male.
