An historic portrait of the man responsible for Willistead Manor will soon be hung in the historic building in Windsor.
The portrait of Edward Chandler Walker, the second son of Hiram Walker, was created and donated to the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC by Walker's widow when she moved away from Walkerville in 1915.
In 2014, the Corcoran Gallery was closed and the art piece of given to the National Gallery of Art.
The National Gallery began dispersing of pieces that didn't fit its mandate and the Willistead Manor Board of Director reached out requesting the portrait.
The board received word recently, the portrait will return to Windsor.
There's no word when it will arrive but it will be displayed at Willistead Manor.
The Willistead Manor was built in 1904 to 1906.
