High winds could cause problems on the shores of Lake Erie overnight.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a watershed conditions statement Friday for the Lake Erie shoreline west of Point Pelee with winds out of the southwest expected to maintain speeds of 30 km/hr with gusts of up to 50 km/hr.
Those are below flood watch thresholds, but ERCA says high water levels are increasing the risk of flooding, shore erosion, and damaging waves.
Residents are being advised to stay away from the shore as the combination of slippery banks, waves overtopping shoreline structures, and fast moving water can be dangerous.
The statement remains in effect until 12:00pm Saturday.
