High Number of Drug Related Overdoses Prompts Community Alert

Over a seven day period, 30 substance related visits to the emergency department were recorded

The Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy has issued an alert following a high number of drug related overdoses.

Between June 21 and 27 there were 30 substance related visits to the emergency department with 19 overdoses.

According to the local health unit, seven overdoses were the result of fentanyl.
