Windsor residents have confidence in the city's drinking water.
A recently released Statistics Canada report shows just 42% of Windsor households treated their water before drinking it in 2015.
Only Québec City at 35% and Sherbrooke at 25% were lower while Winnipeg tops the list of Canadian cities at 73%.
The most frequent reason for treatment was to improve the taste, odour or appearance of the water.
Enwin Vice-President of Water Operations, Gary Rossi says the utility uses several innovative technologies such as 'ozone treatment' which eliminates bacteria while improving taste and odour. "I'm not surprised that the number is that low due to the fact that, I think, there's a high confidence in the water that we produce here. It's a testament to the time and effort that our staff do here as far as their passion for making the best, highest quality drinking water."
"Enwin is always looking at what other cities are doing as well," says Rossi. "One thing that we do is we do benchmark. We do benchmark technologies. We benchmark different best practices not just in Canada, but North America and we look to see how we can implement those to do the best job that we can in treating our drinking water."
In 2011, 2015 and 2016 Windsor's water was named the "Best Tasting in Ontario" by the Ontario Water Works Association.
The Statistics Canada report shows the most common water treatment technique was jug filters, reported by 25% of Canadian households.
