Local veterans have been honoured at the 4th annual 'Honour of Duty Veterans Brunch' at Windsor's Moose Lodge.
Along with paying tribute to local veterans, two Windsor Regiment reservists were also recognized for their life-saving efforts.
Corporal Matthew Lepain and Master Corporal Alexander Zawyrucha helped pull a woman from a wrecked vehicle just before it exploded into flames at Ojibway Parkway and the E.C. Row Expressway in August 2015.
Zawyrucha tells CTV Windsor the pair just reacted and went to work.
"The main thing I remember is seeing the accident and me and Lepain running over and all of a sudden I was back on the sidewalk with a big question mark over my head," says Zawyrucha.
Corporal Matthew Lepain tells CTV Windsor they both relied on their training.
"Just our military training kept us with a clear focus in mind and we were able to handle the situation and get everybody out to safety," says Lepain.
The pair received a Medal of Bravery from Canada's Governor General last year.
