The Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County has announced this year's winners of the Herb Gray Harmony Awards.
University of Windsor President, Dr. Alan Wildeman received the Harmony Award for his work in improving diversity at the school, which includes welcoming more international students to the university than ever before.
Wildeman says the award truly belongs to everyone at the university. "There is nothing in life that we do on our own. There is so many great people across our university, and across our whole community, who are doing so much to make Windsor-Essex a very special place for people from all backgrounds. The commitment to it is really incredible."
Dr. Godfrey Bacheyie received the Champion Award for humanitarian work he's conducted in the community and in Ghana.
Dr. Bacheyie says he never expected an award for the work he has done in Ghana. "There has been a drastic change. In each area there has been positive changes. In the health area people are getting care, water born diseases have drastically reduced and for basic education there are a lot more children going to school and having facilities to attend school."
