Brace for heavy rain late this afternoon and into the evening.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement alerting that up to 50 mm of rain could fall.
As well the Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch due to the heavy rain and saturated soil conditions.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says along with the rain there will be significant wind.
"It is going to be gusty because at least for today we are expecting gusts to about 40 km/h and even higher during the evening and overnight hours, and gusting up to 50 km/h so it is a very typical fall"
Cheng says we aren't expecting big downpours within this system.
"For this system its mostly just a steady moderate rain we are expecting. Certainly for now all that convection, that thunderstorms are behind us at least for a little while so this is a fall system"
He adds most of the rain will fall in the afternoon and evening.
"The rain should start to ease specially through the overnight so hopefully by tomorrow rush hour the last day of the work week, the bulk of the rain will have been done. However there may still be a few showers sticking around for the rest of the day Friday"
Cheng says this is moisture that's moved into our area from the Gulf of Mexico, so temperatures will remain seasonal.
The E.R.C.A. Flood Watch is in effect until 10am Friday, November 2, 2018.
