The Windsor-Essex County Board of Health passed its 2019 cost-shared budget and it will see an overall jump of 4.6%.
Overall, the total budget rises from $19.3-million to just over $20.2-million, the bulk of that increase coming from salary and benefit expenses and a move to keep vector borne disease testing and tracking in house. Previously the service was contracted out.
The municipal share of that increase will rise by 5% from $2.98-million to $3.1-million in 2019.
Only board member Hillary Payne opposed the budget that he says is double the rate of inflation and unsustainable.
