The locations for a pair of pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Windsor have been announced.
Plans for walk-in clinics in two Windsor hotspots were revealed by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit Friday, but the locations weren't confirmed until Sunday afternoon.
Residents living or working in the N9A and N9C postal code can attend St. Angela Centre Hall at 750 Erie St. E. or Mackenzie Hall 3277 Sandwich St. W. starting at 9 a.m. Monday.
Board of Health Member Rino Bortolin is asking residents to be patient.
"The biggest concern is queuing and the line-ups outside," he says. "I'm sure they'll be reminding people to stay 6 ft. apart and wear a mask, but we're hoping that the line-ups aren't too bad and people don't get disappointed if they're cut off at a certain point."
Bortolin says the clinic is open to those working in the hot zones, but he hopes those working from home hold off.
"Let the people who are going into work every day, like frontline-workers at grocery stores and those types of things, go in Monday," he says. "A number of categories will be opening up in the next couple of weeks to accommodate everybody."
He says the health unit hopes to provide 1,000 residents with their first dose of the vaccine.
The pop-up locations will be for walk-ins from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday or until the supply of vaccine runs out.
Proof of residency in the form of a government issued ID is required — those working in the hot spots will need a paystub or workplace ID to prove they qualify.
