It's been a good run for two Windsor/Essex Community Health Board members.
Eleanor Groh and Rob Modestino were presented with plaques commemorating the end of their terms at Thursday night's meeting.
Groh says, as a health care professional, serving on the board is something special.
"I love to serve, and so any opportunity I get I'll do that, but this one will always be very near and dear to my heart because I spent many years working here as a staff member years ago," she says. "My heart has always been here.
Both were visually moved by comments coming from fellow board members.
Modestino says 10 years have taught him a few things that he'll carry with him moving forward.
"It's been fun, it's been challenging, to say the least. In my role as treasurer, I learned a lot about what it takes to pass budgets when you're in an environment that is underfunded," says Modestino, who's a pharmacist by trade.
Chair Gary McNamara says with the fond farewell comes the task of filling a void.
He says skilled board members are always needed, Modestino and Groh will be missed.
"Eleanor, she worked for the Health Unit for a number of years, as well as being in the health field for probably 25 years. Rob, being in the pharmacy business, brought that level of expertise here," McNamara says.
Modestino says he plans to focus on expanding his business, while Groh says she will continue to serve on the police services board.
According to McNamara, the board will be proactive in it's search for replacements, as provincial appointments can take months.
