A doctor at Windsor Regional Hospital says the number of influenza cases are down this flu season however the hospital is dealing with more severe cases.
Dr. Anil Dhar says there have been a few patients that have been sent to Michigan hospitals for further treatment.
He says the cases are severe and are affecting healthy people between the ages of 30 to 50 years old.
Dr. Dhar says the the virus is H1N1.
"There's been essentially a less number of cases being admitted to the medical floors with flu but I think that's a result of a lot of vaccination impact," says Dhar. "But we have seen a lot of increase amount of disease in the critical area with the result of the flu."

Dr. Dhar believes the vaccine is working for those who got the flu shot.
"The vaccination has taken care of majority of the patients and hopefully will continue to do that but the organism is still quite virulent in patients and any healthy person can develop a very bad reaction," says Dhar.
Dr. Dhar is continuing to remind the public to get their flu shot.
He says the milder temperature could have delayed the number of cases but feels that could now change with the temperature dipping.
