A routine traffic stop for speeding by Amherstburg police uncovered more than just a speedy driver.
A .22 calibre revolver was found and seized.
On Tuesday, March 7th at 10pm, police stopped a car going 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on County Road 11 (Walker Rd).
The 18-year-old male driver refused to take a breath sample, at which point all passengers were asked to leave the vehicle.
The gun was found behind the passenger seat and an open bottle of alcohol was found behind the driver's seat.
All five people in the vehicle were arrested.
The driver, an 18-year-old Windsor man has been charged wtih refusing to provide a breath sample, driving a motor vehicle with alcohol readily available, being a novice driver, failing to surrender an insurance card and speeding.
A passenger in the car, 18-year-old of Windsor is charged with unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm.
Three other passengers were released unconditionally.
