A guilty plea in a Windsor murder.
Richard Scott Raymond, 28, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of 49-year-old Carol Shaw.
Shaw's body was found in her apartment at 475 Bruce Ave. near Park St. in February 2015.
Court heard Raymond was in a relationship with Shaw's daughter and the two got into an argument. Raymond left and went to Carol Shaw's home.
There was a struggle inside and Shaw was beaten and strangled.
Raymond was found naked from the waist down. Shaw's body was found lying on the floor and was naked from the waist down as well.
While the facts were being read in court, Raymond sat in the prisoner's box, hunched over with his head down.
"It is obviously a tough thing (to plea) for him to do," said Raymond's lawyer Brian Dube outside of the Superior Court house. "He made that decision some time ago and he is committed to that decision."
Raymond pleaded guilty based on the facts, not his memory.
"He has no recollection of the incident, he provided a video tape statement to the police the next day and it was very credible."
Raymond had originally been charged with first degree murder.
Sentencing has been put over to December 4th when a joint submission is expected.
